O's Fall In Home Run Derby

The Orioles and Reds combined for nine long balls on Saturday night, but it was Cincinnati that came out on top with a 10-5 win at Camden Yards.

The Birds set a season-high with four homers...Adam Jones (13), Nick Markakis (6), Matt Wieters (7) and J.J. Hardy (10) all went yard, but all but Markakis' homer were solo shots...just two of the Reds' five dingers came with the bases empty. The first 14 runs of the game all came via the long ball...

Brian Matusz had a rough outing, allowing six runs on nine hits (three homers) and a walk while fanning five. Matusz (1-3) has now lost three straight contests since winning his season debut. Brad Bergesen allowed another four runs on three hits (two homers) and three walks over three innings of relief...

The best part of the game? The Buck Showalter bobbleheads. Only the first 20 thousand fans through the gates received one, and even though we arrived early they were all gone. But the wife and I searched for Reds' fans and ended up buying four, selling one and giving one to a friend as a birthday gift, so it all worked out!

The Birds send Jeremy Guthrie to the mound on Sunday afternoon. Guthrie (2-9) hasn't won a game in over a month but could give the Birds a series win with a victory...
