I miss Brian Roberts.
So do the Orioles.
The Birds fell to the Pirates 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon, but the final score may have been much different had Roberts been in the lineup...
Zach Britton was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs (three earned) on seven hits and a walk. Britton (6-5) struck out six Pirates, and could have escaped the fifth inning with a lead had it not been for yet another costly error.
Blake Davis was making his Major League debut at second base, giving the slumping Robert Andino a day off. The Pirates had runners at second and third with two down in the fifth inning when a routine ground ball was hit to Davis...it went through his legs, and two runs crossed the plate, giving Pittsburgh a 5-4 lead that held up.
The Birds finally return home after a miserable road trip where the club went 3-6 and lost all three series. The O's (33-39) host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game set starting Friday night; Chris Jakubauskas takes the mound for the Birds.
